Unveiling the Villa of Light: A Masterpiece by Ethospace Pte. Ltd.

An Indian-Inspired Residential House Radiating with Cultural Brilliance

With a deep understanding of their client's Indian culture and religion, Ethospace Pte. Ltd. instinctively chose light as the essence of their design. The central staircase at the front of the villa was selected to carry a spiritual message, creating a sacred space for the client and their family. This concept was enthusiastically endorsed by the client, initiating a spiritual journey that was reflected in the design process.

The Villa of Light stands out due to its unique properties. Light radiates from a core designed as an Indian pierced screen in steel, spreading brilliant rays throughout the villa. The design spans three generations, blending elements of old and new. The Barrisol ceiling in the living room expresses an Indian-inspired arch, and the environment is styled with family saris and heirlooms, creating a warm and familiar atmosphere amidst the modern ambience.

The realization of this design was a feat of technology and creativity. In 2008, when Barrisol and LED were primarily used in architectural design, the designer utilized these components from a higher spiritual perspective. The staircase, a composition of shadow and light, creates the illusion of pierced metal threads over aged Travertino marble. The Villa of Light, located in Sentosa Cove, Singapore, covers an area of 10,000 sqft. The design process, which started in June 2008 and concluded in May 2011, was a journey of balancing passionate design processes with intense emotions from the client and their family. The attention to detail, particularly in the context of natural and electric lighting, played a prominent part in the project, going beyond decor to accentuate shade, shadow, and light.

The Villa of Light was awarded Silver in A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2018.
